Vision
Innovation as part of a business development strategy is the successful market implementation of a new product, service, process or combination of them all. The three main ingredients of innovation are: 1. Knowledge 2. Creativity 3. Entrepreneurship It may sound strange, but knowledge is in fact the least interesting one. It’s always available and at hand in our business. If commercialization is what we want, knowledge can’t be the most important issue. If it is, a research project is at hand. Not an innovation project. Creativity is the quality to see and to shape unexpected combinations. From a company’s or researcher’s perspective: what else can I do with my capacities and resources? What new markets can I enter based on what I've already got? Or: what new products and/or services can I add to my portfolio to serve known markets better? What’s the next step? Starting point is new business development. Not technology. Entrepreneurship enables people to convert business opportunities into actual business. Innovation can only be called a success if it yields measurable return. Generating this return is what an entrepreneur does by spotting the best business opportunities.
